3 rows have errors and are not included in this total. Error rows copy as ERROR, so the column stays lined up with your source.

Pasting H:MM into Excel can turn it into a time value. Format the cells as Text first to keep it as typed.

How it works

  1. Choose the conversion: decimal hours to time, time to decimal hours, or minutes to decimal hours.
  2. Paste one value per line. Blank lines stay in place so the output lines up with your source.
  3. Check the flagged rows. Each one says what is wrong and, when the fix is obvious, offers it.
  4. Copy the converted column back into your spreadsheet, copy the whole table, or download a CSV.

Why the total can differ

Rounding each row and then adding the rounded cells does not always match the true total. Sixty rows of one minute each show as 0.02 hours, and the column adds up to 1.20 hours, 12 minutes more than the real one hour. Likewise 7.75, 8.10 and 6.50 hours total exactly 22.35 hours, or 22:21.

The total here is calculated from the exact values and rounded once. If a column of rounded cells would add up differently, the page tells you by how much. See the Calculation Method for the full rules.

Accepted input and limits

Decimal values use a period (7.5, not 7,5). Times are H:MM or H:MM:SS with minutes and seconds from 00 to 59, and hours may go past 24. Negative numbers, scientific notation, thousands separators and text are flagged. Each run takes up to 500 rows and 20,000 characters.

Questions

Can I paste straight from Excel or Google Sheets?

Yes. Copy one column of cells and paste it into the box. If you copy several columns, each row is flagged as having more than one column instead of being guessed.

What happens to rows with errors?

They stay in place, are marked with the reason and, when possible, a one-click fix. They are not added to the total, and the total says how many rows were left out.

Why does the total differ from adding the converted column?

Each converted cell is rounded for display. The total adds the exact values first and rounds once, so it can differ from a sum of rounded cells. When it does, the page shows both numbers and the gap.

Why does Excel change my H:MM values?

Excel can read 7:45 as a time of day and display it differently from what you typed. Format the cells as Text before pasting if you need the values exactly as they are.

Is my data uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything is converted in your browser. Nothing you paste is sent to a server or included in analytics.

How many rows can I convert?

Up to 500 rows and 20,000 characters in one run. For longer lists, convert them in parts.
